A successful festival is brought forth only due to countless hours of meetings, promoting, preparations, dedicated committee members and supporting family members. This three day family oriented educational fest showcases the unique artistic talents of the local Appalachian community with absolutely some of Ohio's finest artists. Newcomer to 2012, well known potter Ray Storer of Grandpa's Pottery quickly felt a connection and longing to becoming a fixture for the fest. Also fest goers accepted a newcomer to the festival circuit and becoming one of Ohios top Barn Square artists, John Laurel of Laurel Barn Squares. Prestigious award winner, Jim Gorman, with his toy tractor replicas, helped get the fest started in 2010 and is a true friend to Ms. Hall. Bill Shipley and Keith Young, of Salem Pumpkins and Ornamentals were the hands down winners of last years "Best Decorated Booth award and a definite fest fixtures. Another truly permanent fixture to the fest location will be Steve and Marjorie Boehme, of Good Seed Farm. The list goes on and on ranging from jams, jellies, candies, pumpkins, honey, soaps, jewelry, floral's, antiques, caricature artist to American Girl doll clothes, There is a little something for everyone.
The AMA family invites home school, Head Starts, and schools to bring their children on Friday to participate in demonstrations, horse and carriage rides by WC Milling, Adams/Brown Recycling brings their mobile display, putt putt golf and to wander the village of Grassy Run Historical Arts Committee who dress in the 17-1800'S period. Award winning singer/songwriter Steve Free, is always a favorite with the children, as well as Ryen Shively's petting zoo menagerie of goats, skunks, rabbits, llamas, pigs and more.
Jo Hall continues her fundraising efforts for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's with the 6th Annual Charity Auction, Saturday at noon, parking donations will also benefit Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Fancy Free cloggers will kick off the auction, and auctioneer Jamie Stout provides professionalism and wit to the sale itself.
Join us for an fun filled relaxing weekend, but come hungry to enjoy the fest food...from pulled pork, roasted corn on the cob, pork tenderloin, walking tacos, baked potatoes and beans and cornbread.... then top it off with desserts such as Keim's Market Donuts, big as double-deckers, Aden Raber's homemade ice cream and sweet treats of every concoction by Buckeye Confections and Freedom Home school.
