THE GALENA SUMMERFEST BEGAN IN 2009 TO HONOR THE BICENTENNIAL OF GALENA, OHIO.
The Greater Galena Civic Association asked the Village of Galena council members if they would join the GGCA and the community in celebrating their 200th anniversary with a MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL.
The first event in 2009 was a terrific success! Folks from all over Ohio attended, as well as our neighboring communities. We welcomed nearly 4,000 attendees with a huge KidZone, over 30 arts & food vendors and more!
We've expanded each year and, in 2013, partnered with our neighboring community's Sunbury Sizzle & Sounds Festival. Both Galena SummerFest and Sunbury Sizzle & Sounds are held on the same day. Complimentary shuttle service between the two events allows attendees to conveniently enjoy both festivals.
In 2013, Galena SummerFest entertained over 7,000 attendees with an expanded KidZone, a separate entertainment stage, over 50 arts & food vendors and more!
The expanded festivals are expected to draw a much larger group of patrons this year and offer greater exposure for our generous sponsors.
