June 06, 2015 - June 07, 2015 |
Description: | From Ohio Valley Frontier Days Website: Every year Historic Fort Steuben -- a reconstructed 18th century fort built on its original site overlooking the Ohio River -- opens its mighty wooden gates for two special days to reenactors, demonstrators, musicians, storytellers, artists, crafters, and visitors of all ages for its family-friendly Festival. Within the picket walls, the soldiers set up camp and demonstrate the loading and shooting of muskets as well as the daily life of the enlisted men who inhabited the Fort in 1787. Surveyors replicate their tools and techniques for surveying the Ohio frontier. Native Americans demonstrate their skills and crafts. Visitors participate in games and contests, make crafts and join in activities that make history come alive. Buildings are open for tours and Baron von Steuben teaches military drill to young volunteers. Meet the blacksmith, candle makers, woodworker, and others who demonstrate early American skills. History, crafts, food, pony rides and music make this a weekend the whole family will want to experience.
The date for the 2015 festival is June 6-7 so mark your calendars!
