Frontier Days

Frontier Days was an idea of a small group from the Milford Chamber of Commerce. They observed 75 to 100 canoeists racing on the Little Miami River. The finish line at that time was located at the bridge, where they would load their canoes and go home and no recognition was given. The group decided to bring grills and coolers of drinks to the riverbank to sell food and drink to the hungry and thirsty canoeist. Soon after, the group decided to name this event Frontier Days.

More events began to be added to this weekend event. The finish line for the canoe races was later moved to the area behind the American Legion Post #450 and Frontier Days followed. Carnival rides and games were added as well as live entertainment and other events.

The canoe races have since been discontinued as the cost of liability insurance increased each year and never enough volunteers. Frontier Days is fully staffed by volunteers. The Frontier Days committee invited nonprofit organizations to come and raise funds at this event by selling different types of food at their own booths. All monies raised at this event come back to the area to promote scholarships, a better place to live, and work.
