Description: | From Oak Hill Village Festival of Flags Website: May 25-29, 2017
The Oak Hill Festival of Flags was started in 1992 by an organization initially brought together to preserve an old school building. Those efforts evolved into a weekend festival that celebrates the sacrifices of Americans and the patriotic spirit that resonates through the hundreds of unfurled American flags lining the streets, homes and businesses.
The festival features a crafts and vendor area, rides and games, as well as contests and free entertainment.
On Friday, May 26, 2017 at Noon, the official opening ceremonies will take place. The Boy Scouts of Oak Hill will present the colors, Rick Noel will perform the National Anthem, Jackson County Veterans will ring the Bicentennial Bell 25 times, one for each year of the Festival.
Also on Friday is the annual Karaoke Contest, with cash prizes.
On Saturday night, May 27, 2017, the headliner is the up and coming country group, Post Monroe. Opening for them this is year is Oak Hills's own Dan McCarty. Dan takes the stage at 6PM, with Post Monroe beginning at 8PM. Reserved seating is being sold. Contact (***) ***-**** for more information.
